Student visa checklist for Australia 2026
6 min read5 March 2026
Financial documents, OSHC cover, GTE statement tips, and biometrics deadlines to avoid last-minute surprises.
The Australian student visa (subclass 500) is lodged online, but the documents behind it take time to prepare. Start at least three months before your intake.
Core items: a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE), Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), proof of funds, and a clear Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) statement explaining why you are studying and why you will comply with your visa.
Book biometrics early and keep certified copies of every financial document. A counsellor can review your GTE before you submit, which is where most avoidable refusals happen.
